Spider-Man 2 Kinda Sucked

While Roger Clemens was being lit up in the All-Star Game, I was at the movies last night (it figures, I skip the game and miss that). Even though everyone else seems to think Spider-Man 2 was great and all, I have to say I found it to be the most emotionally overwrought action film I've ever seen. The movie repeatedly takes a sledgehammer to your gut as the viewer to show you how conflicted poor Peter Parker is; I got it after the hundredth pity scene, but they kept going. I recall that there was at least a little bit of humor and fun in the first one at least (the elevator dialogue about the suit riding up in the crotch wasn't anything special). The Tobey Maguire-Kirsten Dunst scenes were uncomfortably awkward, the obvious telegraphing of the next sequel annoyed me, and even the villain was a well-meaning guy gone wrong rather than a true bad apple, which bothered me too. Call me a heretic, but I disliked the movie.
